Wheel of Time TV News
All quiet on the Showrunner front again... So time for some speculation!

It looks like the Clarkson Twins have finished up their current writing duties on the show and moved on to another Writers Room, for the time being:

This INO tells us a few things. Firstly that the Clarkson's are in demand, which bodes well for their work on WoT. Secondly that the WoT writers room has most likely finished "breaking down" the first season into episodes, and lastly it may indicate that they only wrote one episode(Ep.3 A Place of Safety).

8-10 Episodes for season one seems likely. If we say 8, then INO the breakdown would be:

Rafe - Ep.  1,5,8
Amanda - Ep. 2,7
Clarkson's - Ep. 3
Dave Hill - Ep. 4
Justine - Ep. 6

If 10:

Rafe - Ep.  1,5,10
Amanda - Ep. 2,7
Clarkson's - Ep. 3
Dave Hill - Ep. 4,8
Justine - Ep. 6,9

Show Runners tend to take the first and last episodes of a first season. Narg has also given episode 5 to Rafe in both breakdowns based on it being the end of book one and an important climax. If it isn't, Justine will most likely get a second episode in the 8 episode scenario as she has seniority(Narg thinks) over Dave. Though perhaps Dave has 4 and 5, which could explain why Rafe "seemed" to skip Ep 5 in his reveals...

If you're wondering why Narg has left Celine out, that would be because this is her first gig in TV as a Staff Writer, and therefore highly unlikely to get credited for writing an episode. She's there to learn the craft and is a future investment. As always, Narg has no first hand knowledge or experience in TV, and this is based on what he has read.

Sharon Tal Yguado the Head of Genre at Amazon Studios, who would have been one of, if not the driving force behind The Wheel of Time ending up at Amazon, has left Amazon Studios:
"As some of you may have already heard, I have decided to leave Amazon Studios, I am proud of the world-class team, high-profile talent and impressive slate I have brought in including The Lord of the Rings, The Wheel of Time, The Boys, The Dark Tower, Invincible, Tales from the Loop, and many other exciting projects. I enjoyed my time at Amazon and loved seeing this place grow and evolve. I will miss my all-star team and the incredible talent we worked with, but I am excited to begin my next adventure. I am leaving with wonderful memories and I look forward to seeing the many projects I cultivated come to life as an Amazon Prime subscriber and a lover of genre programming."
What does this mean for WoT? For the first season, probably not a lot. Past that, it could mean that it will be harder for the show to get a second season renewal. The reason for Tal Yguado's departure, is said to be "creative differences" with the Head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke. Where Tal Yguado went after big budget genre shows that have potential for mass popularity. Salke, based on what she has greenlit since taking her position, is going for more niche shows, which to Narg's eye, seem skewed to a more female demographic.

An example of this is how she described the series in the media release about the show being greenlit...

Salke:
“The Wheel of Time is endlessly fascinating and resonates hugely with fans as one of the best-selling global book franchises and we were drawn to its timely narrative featuring powerful women at the core,”
It could be one of the reasons for the strong tilt towards Moiraine in the show synopsis. Of course The Wheel of Time does have strong females at its core a long side the three male leads, and at a guess, that is INO the only reason Salke was won over and gave the show the Greenlight. Narg has a bad feeling though, that if the show doesn't gain enough traction in its first season, Salke will be quick to cut it, and not give it time to grow.

Enough (hopefully unfounded) pessimism from Narg! Lets have some casting fun!

As per Kelly Valentine Hendry's twitter account, she is actively casting for The Wheel of Time. We are unlikely to hear about who has been cast in the main roles for another few months(Late July/early August) INO, so until then the speculative fan casting will continue. To fill in the time Narg will take a look at people who Kelly has cast previously, or who have recently started following Kelly on social media, to see if he can jag any likely cast members...it worked for the writers, so you never know...

Narg making picks only for characters that appear in the first two books.

First up: Ray MacAllan

Ray was recently cast in Bulletproof, which Kelly cast for, and he has recently started following KVH Casting on Instagram. Other UK shows he's had roles in include, Holby City, EastEnders and The Bill. You can see his showreel >>HERE<<. Looks to Narg to be a solid journeyman actor, and appearance wise, could easily fit Pedron Niall or Saml Hake(the skinny Innkeeper). Narg could also see Geofram Bornhald, if Ray put on a bit of weight.

Next Up: Emma Fisher

Narg didn't see any previous connection with KVH Casting but she is a recent follower and is UK based. Emma won 'BEST ACTRESS IN AN INDIE FILM' at the New York Film Awards for WW2 short 'Edelweiss', and got the following review:
"Fisher in particular delivered a memorable turn as a character brutalised by her role in the war, and left clutching her convictions throughout. The emotional depth that the role needed was given and then some"
You can see her showreel >>HERE<<.

Her spotlight profile says she can play 23 - 35 years. Based on the Showreel and her general appearance, Narg see's Morgase Trakand potential, who looks younger than her true age of around 40, due to her small channelling ability.

The final speculative pick for this week is: Jane Ajia

Narg is going with Alanna Mosvani, Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah. Her acting experience is nearly all UK stage based, so no footage to look at apart from one scene she did for her Showreel. Narg thinks she has what it takes.

Remember, the above choices are just a bit of speculative fun and Narg has no inside knowledge of the casting process.

The May Sentiment Poll results are in. There was a small uptick in "Little bit anxious", which could be due to Rafe going pretty much silent, or people getting anxious upon hearing that casting is underway.
