Wheel of Time TV News
Nothing from Rafe last week, we did however get confirmation that things are happening in Prague...
The severed heads below are examples of the artist's work:

If season one includes parts of, or all of book two, Johnny will need to create quite a few severed heads...thankfully it looks like he's good at that...

Location Location Location: As to where in Prague the show will actually film...after spending some time looking at where Sony and Amazon have previously filmed in Prague, Narg is willing to bet that they will be based out of the Barrandov Studio's and Backlot. The other major option is Prague Studios, but Narg will put his money on Barrandov(Narg usually losses his money though, so don't bet the house on it)...

Recent shows that have been filmed there, include Amazon's forthcoming Carnival Row and A+E's Knightfall. Here are some set examples:

So if anyone who lives in Prague or is visiting there over the next few months, if you see a...

being built, surrounded by some thatched houses...be sure to let us all know and snap some pictures.

As for local production companies, Narg reckons StillKing Films could be the guys on the ground given their history with both Amazon and Sony. Total speculation though and Narg not putting any money on that pick.

Casting: Everyone wants to know, is it happening, when is it happening, has it happened, and of course who has been cast and when will we find out?

Narg will take a stab at all of those apart from the who...bear in mind Narg has zero experience in the TV industry and his "stabs" are based solely on researching the process and looking at past shows.

Is/When? It's a good bet it is. Based on Rafe's social media accounts, we know he has had contact with the head of casting at Sony Pictures Television. We also know from previous shows, that casting can happen at anytime. Henry Cavill was the very first meeting that The Witcher showrunner took:
He was my first meeting. I didn’t have writers or scripts yet – just a greenlight and a lot of passion. That was four months ago, and I’ve never forgotten the passion he brought. He IS Geralt. He always has been. I’m so thrilled to welcome HENRY CAVILL to the #Witcher family.
Whoever the casting director is for the show, "Closed" casting(for the speaking roles), where they look at past actors they've worked with, and put out calls to agencies, is INO happening. Rafe and the other writers have probably also put forward some names for consideration. "Open" casting will occur for all the "background" actors closer to filming.

Has it happened? Whether or not any one has actually been cast, is anyone's guess. If there is a big "A lister" they specifically wanted, then they may have already locked that person in. For the others they'd probably be moving a bit slower and doing Chemistry Reads:
Chemistry Read is to see how the actors they are considering hiring work together. They simply want to see their chemistry with one another. Sometimes they mix and match. Sometimes they will try certain actors with someone they have already cast or is strongly thinking about casting. Typically, this takes place when they have the actors narrowed down.
When will we find out? This is different for every show, but there are some factors that we can take into account that may give us a clue. The first one being Game of Thrones.

Narg thinks it would be silly to announce any actors within the next two months, simply because GoT fever will be dominating all entertainment news. Better INO to wait until it's finished, and all the "GoT's over, what's next" articles start to appear/reappear. Any news and hype will get much better traction once GoT is over. So from about June on wards at the earliest.

The second factor is whether or not one or more big names are cast. Most likely in the role/s of Moiraine, Thom and Lan. Moraine being the most likely, as she is the one being promoted as the "Lead" role atm. Looking at some recent shows, Hanna(Amazon), The Witcher(Netflix) and Carnival Row(Amazon), the lead role has been announced the month before filming began, with the other important roles in the next month, just before filming starts. So if the September start date holds, then we could be waiting until August to get our first bit of casting news.

If Narg was to take a stab at picking the date of the first casting announcement, it would be the first week of August or last week of July. Narg wouldn't mind in the slightest though, if news came out next week and made him look silly.

In related news

According to The Daily Record, filming for the LotR's prequal is set to start as early as August in Scotland. If that's the case it will be interesting to see what Amazon does in terms of release dates if they both finish post production around the same time. Narg is less confident of a late 2020 air date for WoT given this news...

Ben & Jerry's has gotten in early on the WoT hype train and released some WoT flavoured ice cream...

Neigh' Blis has tried his hand at casting again. This time he attempts to cast the most important character in the books. Surprisingly, it's not Narg???

In General Wheel of Time News

Escapist Magazine's Riley Constantine wrote an article about how The Wheel of Time helped save her world:
I adore this series. Even beyond its layered world, rich characters, and enthralling prose, The Wheel of Time has stuck with me because I associate it with my own survival. Most of my belongings were confiscated when I was first admitted to the hospital. My phone, clothes, and shoes were inaccessible, yet by administrative decree, the library book I brought with me was granted clemency. You’re goddamn right it was The Wheel of Time.
JordanCon is just under two weeks away, so if you're in or around the Atlanta area, why not just drop in. Preregistration is closed, but you can still buy tickets at the door! Who knows you may win this guitar at the charity auction!

Hopefully Rafe will give us a special WoTWednesday treat to celebrate it...the episode 5 reveal can't be to far away and perhaps we may even get something else...early concept artwork, number of episodes in the first season, casting...C'mon Rafe...
