The Daily Trolloc (72)

Weekly Issue 72.
Wheel of Time News

Remember this tweet back in December?

At the time Narg gave it 3/5 skulls on the Narg rumor scale, due to them not providing any other details or the source. Fast forward a few weeks and Narg just found a sample of the December 20 issue of ProductionWeekly, and in it is this:

Pertinent part is Status: September 2019 and Location: Prague

This edition is dated the day after the tweet. One would hope that an industry site that people pay for, would not make updates based on unsourced tweets, so Narg will work on the assumption that the information is correct, came direct from Radar/Sony/Amazon, and that the discrepancy in the months, August v September, is an error on Discussing Films behalf.

So lets take another look at Prague and the Czech Republic...

There are two big Studios in Prague that would be likely candidates.

Prague Studios: Has 6 sound stages, and has hosted productions such as, Britannia(an Amazon co-production), the Netflix series Haunted and Underworld: Blood Wars.

Here are some sets that they have constructed.

Nine sound stages are located on the Barrandov Studio Lot and another 4 are located at our Hostivar complex (these stages are currently committed to long term television projects)
Our backlot of gently rolling terrain at Barrandov is unique due to its close proximity to the stages and abundant natural scenery.
Sets they have constructed.

A Knight's Tale, 2000

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, 2007

Oliver Twist, 2004

As for the rest of the Czech Republic, here are some images from their film commission and other sites.

Of course, just because Prague is the only place listed in this Industry publication, does not mean that it will be the only filming location. It may just be the home base for Sound Stage work and outdoor scenes that require large sets to be built. Britannia for example, filmed some scenes in Wales. Other locations may have not yet been decided upon, and thus not listed.

It would be good to get some confirmation(or denial) on the date and location from Rafe, but Narg doubts that will happen anytime soon.

Rafe however did officially announce the Clarkson Twins as being writers for the show:

Narg's Writers' room continues to get closer to being realityčśŤ

Narg has stuck his neck out by "Nargfirming" Justine and Dave(hopefully Rafe doesn't lop it off), and one of the Clarkson twins did participate in one of Jane Espenson's Twitter "Writing Sprints" this week, so that keeps Narg's hopes alive for her. Still no way near to being sure about her though(Jane's to well known to infer much from the other writers interacting with her on social media). Narg does have one other name up his sleeve, but is unsure of the position(writer or writers assistant for the room).

In other news

Warrior of the Altaii is a fascinating formative work by The Wheel of Time creator, offering an abundance of the epic themes that Jordan would continue to develop in The Wheel of Time itself. A standalone fantasy story told with implacable momentum, readers new to Robert Jordan will find Warrior of the Altaii an easy gateway to the author’s artistry.
First page

While this is exciting, just remember that it wasn't published for a reason, and that early Robert Jordan books are in no way as good as his Wheel of Time work. Even RJ upon reflection did not want it published.

Still, it will be fun to read, and like Cheyenne Raiders, it will give us some insight into how he formed the ideas that later made there way into WoT. Even a bad RJ book, will probably be better than a lot of the stuff that gets published these days. Just keep your expectations low.

Grim Oak Press shared a picture of the first page of the Sanderson short story(deleted scene), that will be in Unfettered III:
