One of those announcements will be a television series for Wheel of Time
Other than that not a peep since JordanCon back in April at which we learnt the following:
Sony Pictures Television has signed a contract with executive producer Ted Field of Radar Productions (with whom Bandersnatch Group signed a contract last year) to develop a TV production of the Wheel of Time series.
And a week or so later:
We understand that Rafe and Ted are currently in discussions with a number of content distributors/networks, and that negotiations will be concluded soon. Sorry, we don't know who they are.

Rafe Judkins the WoT Showrunner got a new writing gig:
“We’ve come up with a wonderful origin story but it’s still based on the Uncharted video game. It doesn’t take place during any of the time periods of any of the Uncharted video games. It actually takes place when Nathan Drake and Sully, I guess you’d call him his surrogate father, were much younger. It’s an origin story that evolves out of the game but is not from the game. Shawn Levy is going to be directing it and a young writer Rafe Judkins is currently writing the screenplay.”
This could be good, bad or neutral news in relation to WoT, depending how you look at it. Good, in that people think he's a talented writer. Bad, that he's not working full time on the WoT, suggesting not much is going on. Neutral, writers can work on multiple projects at once, so Rafe being attached to two projects is neither here nor there.

Narg attempted to explain who will actually be in charge of the Wheel of Time adaptation:
When a company commits to bringing your TV series pitch to market, they'll propose an option agreement for negotiation that gives them the exclusive right to sell your TV series treatment or pilot script to a network for a limited period of time.
As in any industry, there are a variety of forces and factors that give shape to the legal structure and content of any deal made. A television Writer or Producer who has an established track record is likely to receive a more lucrative deal than someone with little or no experience, and most often will be given more involvement in the actual production of the show.
Those are quotes from someone smarter than Narg, and suggest if the deal followed the norm, Sony took out an Option to produce the show and find a network to air it. The level of involvement Radar has in the actual production depends on the deal done. Sony don't own the "rights" just an "option". The "rights" would still be with Radar and perhaps REE. That's Narg's interpretation anyway.

Narg thought it was time to revisit the rumor linking The Wheel of Time to AMC and Sony. This was mainly due to the fact there has been some recent-ish chatter on Facebook supposedly linking AMC to the show. Chatter was based on focus group testing or something like it. Narg waffled on about tone and budgets and stuff. Still no concrete evidence but if we take people at their word or implied word in the Facebook case, we have two people linking AMC to the show.

Apple picked up another show....If Narg is counting correctly that's eight shows now. It was reported they were looking at picking up ten shows, so that leaves only two spots left for WoT to fill...Narg good at maths! They have two, maybe three scifi shows if they pick up the Abram's show that's being shopped, a couple of Drama's and comedy's and a doco series. Needs some Fantasy in the mix Narg says.

General Wheel of Time News

Ta'veren Tees currently has 15% off through to Feb 15.

If you have ever wondered what a Wheel of Time Screenplay may look like, Joan albright has some excerpts from a screenplay she wrote based on Eye of the World.
A futuristic but enchantingly beautiful city. The bridges and buildings appear seamless, as if the entire city had been carved from a single, monolithic slab of stone. Many of the towers reach fifty stories or more into the sky.
Today, its beauty is marred by a dozen plumes of smoke rising into the air.
In the streets, chaos reigns. Men, women, and children run, some empty-handed, others with a handful of possessions--never more than they can carry. No one certain which way to safety.
The ground RUMBLES. A bridge cracks and falls, taking out a pair of fleeing HOVERCARS. The rest of the building follows, cutting off the screams of those trapped below.
The ground here trembles as well, but more than a simple earthquake has laid waste to these halls. Scorch marks, cracked masonry--and everywhere, bodies. Startled looks on dead faces betray the suddenness with which they died.
